A little bit about Gregory Coleman.

Greg was born June 29, 1949 at Los Angeles California. A fifth-generation musician (his father was a founding member of the Tijuana Brass), his love for music was manifested early on in his childhood.

At age seven he began studying guitar with jazz greats Joe Pass and Howard Roberts. At 14 he discovered classical guitar. "I just thought, 'This is like the music of the angels'", Greg remembers. He went on to study with masters including Jose Tomas and Pepe Romero.

Greg began teaching in 1963 and has taught students at a number of learning institutions, including San Bernardino Valley College, University of Redlands, Irvine Valley College, Saddleback College and Orange Coast College. Why teach? "Music enriches all aspects of people's lives... My greatest enjoyment comes from revealing secrets to students that they have been looking for... Few things are as enjoyable as enabling a student to grow and mature musically." (from article in Guitarte International, by Charlie Walsh, Jan 2004)

"I use music to tell a story. It speaks to every person uniquely. That's the magic about music. It's a language, but it says something different to every single person, depending on what's in their heart." (Greg Coleman, from OC Register article February 1, 2004, Tom Berg)
